About

This website is dedicated to our project of renovation of a house in Rixensart, near Brussels, Belgium. We are hoping to crowdsource renovation ideas here as well as giving convenient access to all information concerning the site to the various construction teams that will be intervening.

Reasons? First of all, we simply want to give ourselves a chance to have some fun while plunging into this challenging renovation project. Second, we hope that we can ease the pain of future home-owners to have a great source of info that will help them with some important renovation decisions. Third, we think that social media rocks!

So if you have any tips please help us out and post them! We will be very grateful and certainly reward any which add significant value to the project. Lots of “link love” is guaranteed. Thanks!

Hello, just stumbled onto your blog. I am an American living in Brussels, and my husband and I are beginning to look for something to buy. We are interested in a renovation job but of course a bit nervous about the process. Do you have a list of places that you went to, to buy tiles etc. Do you have a contractors`s name I can call. I am going to continue to troll around your blog. Thanks so much for any advice in advance

Hi there, I would like to recommend someone who has been supervising all our renovation works. He is originally an interior designer, but he knows a whole lot more, and he has been (and continues to be) a real blessing for our project.

He has been super patient with our ideas, had a lot of creative recommendations, helped us brainstorm further, knows a lot of people who realize your plans and whom you can trust.

You can reach him at http://www.demo-design.be/.

Thanks for the suggestion. Our next focus is going to be the facade, garden and surroundings, but maybe after that we look more into going beyond the basics in the rooms we didn’t yet really need to redesign – i.e. the bathrooms and the kitchen. Good luck with your project!

        Hello again,
I was inspired by your website and started a blog about our own renovation project. We are now in the finish line (moving in 15 days!), so my main motivation is to share some of the information we gathered throughout the process. =)
Take a look if you are interested:

Good luck with the facade! (By the way, the inside looks very nice based on the few pictures I’ve seen!)

Hey, really enjoyed your blog! Am just about to start a project of my own and am really diving in deep to find the right entrepreneur to work with (we also dont need an architect as our renovation project is entirely inside the house). I noticed that the conceptxxl website is no longer online. Do you know if he is still doing this kind of project in belgium? Any idea how he might be contactable? Assuming ofcourse that you were happy with his work throughout?
    Thanks 🙂
