Kitchen equipment: Miele vs Bosch?

Not the most pressing issue, perhaps, but does anyone out there have any views on kitchen equipment? So far, we like Miele but it is a bit expensive, we are wondering whether it’s worth the extra money over Bosch, presently our second choice. What about mixing machines in the same kitchen? The Miele dishwasher seems more attractive than the Bosch one, but for the oven, hob and microwave, they seem comparable, with Bosch maybe 20% cheaper.
What about the pyrolysis (self-cleaning) option for the oven? A big whack on top (€400 or so), is it worth it?
And are there any of the “gadgets” that are actually useful or can we just go safely for the basic models? Seems to us that these mostly have everything we really need, unless we decide to go molecular cuisine in the kitchen 😉

Beware – I am a Miele fan. My washing machine, tumbledryer and dishwasher are Miele. I actually grew up in a “Miele household” – lucky me….
But honestly, I just live for the past four months in an interim flat with non-Miele equipment. I must admit – a NIGHTMARE…. spotty glasses from the dishwasher, soaking wet clothes from the washing machine (only 1100 “turns” vs. the 1800 my miele does). And guess what this does to the electricity bill, when you try to blowdry dripping cloths…. endless…
oh – and it was a combined washing-tumbledryer. NEVER EVER buy a two-in-one!! costs nearly the same as 2 separate machines, and you need to get half of the clothes out before drying works in the same machine.
That is really saving on the wrong end.
As to the other kitchen equipment – I actually went with the Ikea provided stuff, as I did not have the time (and interest) to become an expert in EVERY single one of them. Oh- forgot: I did “study” fridges… Electrolux is quite good – and I can send you a German test result of comparing fridges.
To be kept in mind: I am not one of the most passionate cooks – so basic stuff that works, works for me. If you are a semi-pro – might better listen to others.

I think for oven u dont have to get Miele…oven just heats up, but washing machine should be the best as u will be using alot, and a good one is almost silent. 🙂

Washing machine goes through more, and a really top one is almost silent…

for oven – consider Siemens. I know, another German……
for washing mashine I’d suggest Miele as well. We have a very old model now at our place (the kitchen was fully furnished) and it is really really good. As for the dishwasher I have no clue apart from the fact that our brand new Whirlpool has just broken. as for the fridge I’d suggest Bosh since I know they are simply the best in the field of fridge (and freezer together with liebherr).
I own the top-of the-line Miele dishwasher and I absolutely love it. I do not waste time cleaning the dishes and everything is spotless the first time. For me, I will never go back. About your oven, I was born in a house with a self-cleaning oven. Therefore I do not know anything else and it is a must for me. If you get the continuous cleaning feature on top of the self-cleaning feature, you will need to clean your oven less often and waste less energy.
